21st Century

2001 – AMS Neve releases the ultimate analogue recording console,
the Neve 88R, to worldwide acclaim.

2003 – Almost 80% of the highest grossing films of 2003 are mixed on AMS Neve DFCs.

2004 – The most famous names in British music gather around the Neve 88R at London’s Air Studios to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia.

2004 – Yash Chopra's epic Veer Zaara is mixed on DFCs in London and at India's Sound City, with AR Rahman's musical score recorded on the Neve console in Studio 1 at the Empire Audio Centre, Bombay.

2005 – Galaxy Studios in Belgium purchases an 88D, the world's most powerful digital music console.

2005 – AMS Neve announces the 88 series of outboard, democratizing the legendary Neve sound. The current line-up includes the 8816 Summing Mixer – described by Hugh Robjohns of Sound on Sound as ‘fabulous and sublime’ – the 8804 Fader Pack, 8801 Channel Strip and 8803 Dual Channel Equalizer.

2005 – AMS Neve once again redefines film mixing with the DFC Gemini. TFT metering gives detailed information on routing, panning, EQ and dynamics channel by channel as well as WavTrak scrolling waveforms above each channel path. The console is the first to feature fourth generation DSP processing.

2006 – Launch of AudioFile SCX platform bringing together Windows XP, state-of-the-art Intel processors and newly-developed AMS Neve hardware so existing users can easily upgrade their much loved AudioFile editors to meet the demands of today’s post production world. This newly developed platform replaces more than ten ‘previous generation’ cards with a single card.

2006 – Launch of the DFC PS-1 dubbing/post production console. Derived from the AMS Neve DFC which dominates the world’s highest profile film studios, the PS-1 sets the standard as the mid-range solution of choice for TV/film post facilities.

2007 – Launch of CineFile hard disk recorder/dubber. Utilizing the same new hardware as the AudioFile SCX, CineFile is the first hard disk recorder to be able to record and play back NATIVELY in a variety of formats including Pro Tools 5.0.

2007 – Launch of the DMC console, giving ‘entry level’ access to the rich sound and feature set previously only attainable by high level DFC users. DMC consoles subsequently snapped up by post houses all over the world and universities from Belfast to Moscow.

2008 – After extensive industry consultation and development the Neve Genesys – a radical and innovative solution to modern production needs – begins shipping. A true inline design combining analogue preamps with hands-on DAW control, Genesys is fully ‘Neve’ in terms of quality, and provides many features from the flagship 88RS. But Genesys is nonetheless a revolutionary console that breaks new ground in terms of flexibility, compactness and affordability. Besides its signature Neve sound, its basic 16-fader configuration (expandable up to 64 faders) provides 16 channels of mic/line preamps plus 16 channels of DAW mixing and 32-channel analogue summing at mixdown, along with eight auxiliary and eight group buses plus 5.1 monitoring.

2008 – The Neve outboard range continues to grow with the launch of the 4081 Quad Mic Preamp, combining four genuine 1081 mic pres in single remote-controllable half-rack unit. Options include digital I/O, and a 19” rack kit for 8-channel operation using two 4081s.

2008 – First integrated single pass reconform of automation and audio performed on DFC/CineFile. This drastically reduced audio post production time required in the making of pre-watershed versions of BBC's hit Dr Who spin-off show Torchwood.

2009 – AMS Neve Starnet networking system updated to provide NAS (Network Attached Storage) support. As the cost of storage continues to fall, many broadcasters and post houses move over to the low cost reliability of NAS with the assistance of updated AMS Neve software.

2009 – Rebirth of 1969’s legendary 2254 limiter/compressor, this time in rack format as the Neve 2254/R. Retaining all the original sonic characteristics, architecture and components, the new unit also benefits from enhancements including save/recall of settings.
