Summer's Blockbuster "3"s mixed on AMS Neve

29 August 2007

DFCs used for both Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean 3

AMS Neve Ltd. is pleased to announce that both of this summer's mega-blockbuster "3s"-Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End and Shrek the Third-were mixed on the company's industry-standard DFC Digital Film Console.

The films, which have generated more than $600 million combined box-office revenues to date, were mixed on 500-channel DFC consoles at 20th Century Fox's busy John Ford stage and Howard Hawks stage, reinforcing the console's position as the professional film mixing standard.

"We are delighted to see the Academy Award™-winning DFC console put to use once again on the latest crop of successful, high-profile blockbusters," commented Frank Massam, Vice President of Business Development at AMS Neve Ltd. "Thanks to the immense processing power of the DFC, which is capable of mixing more than 500 channels simultaneously, and its classic AMS Neve sound, these films have a riveting impact, as millions of moviegoers worldwide can attest."

Specifically, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, was mixed on 20th Century Fox's DFC console at the John Ford stage by renowned and multiple award-award winning film mixers Paul Massey and Chris Boyes. Shrek the Third, on the other hand, was mixed on a DFC console at the Howard Hawks stage by renowned and multiple award-winning mixers Andy Nelson and Anna Behlmer.

"The DFC console remains the industry standard for good reason," commented 20th Century Fox Senior VP of Sound Operations and Shrek film mixer, Andy Nelson. "When a movie studio comes to us with hundreds of millions of dollars tied up in development and production, the film mixing process must be both efficient and brilliant. And that's exactly what the DFC console platform delivers, time after time."

Introduced over ten years ago, the Academy Award™-winning AMS Neve DFC was the first true multi-operator Digital Film Console. A steady stream of software and processing upgrades over the past decade have kept the DFC platform on the cutting-edge, making the console a wise investment for years to come. The DFC is also available in a compact, more affordable format, the DFC PS/1. Both the DFC and DFC PS/1 remain the mixing platform of choice for the majority of each year's top-grossing films, high-profile television programming, and commercial spots.

Studios interested in purchasing a DFC or DFC PS/1 console or upgrading an existing system are encouraged to contact their local representative via www.ams-neve.com.
