HUGE Studios Invests in Genesys Black18th February 2018
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. May 2018: HUGE Studios, a new state-of-the-art post production facility located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, has installed a Neve Genesys Black G64 in Studio A.
The impressive 16,00sq.ft facility boasts a large recording and mixing studio, housing Genesys Black, orchestral scoring stage and spacious live room, as well as dedicated ADR/Foley and Post-Production stages.
Michael Greene, Director of Scoring/Senior Audio Engineer at HUGE Sound (pictured) researched console options for the main mix room and found Genesys Black immediately impressive.
“We are involved in a lot of album projects of all genres alongside a plethora of scoring work and so we needed a console that had warmth but also clarity, but also a desk which was flexible enough to switch between different projects easily. Once I got into researching the console I found that the routing and recall-ability of the console was exactly what we needed for our Studio A. Having 32 channels of Neve 1073 mic pres is also a wonderful thing.”
Flexibility was key for the HUGE Sound team and the hybrid nature of Genesys Black ticked all the boxes.
Greene continued, “The ability to work in many different ways is great. I can work totally “old school” analogue if I want to with all my EQ, reverbs, and balances on the console, or I can work in a more current hybrid set up where I am using the console as a beautiful summing mixer and stemming out my outputs from Pro Tools, and using the stereo bus to process my mix and then print that back into Pro Tools. The IMR function on the stereo bus allows me to blend in the amount of compression I want on my mix and easily achieve parallel compression.”
“The Neve Genesys Black has streamlined my workflow 100 percent. The ability to get sounds quickly and beautifully has made a huge impact on my work.”
“Neve has really knocked it out of the park with the Neve Genesys Black. The sonic quality is unmatched. The build quality is what Neve is known for and will be a reliable console for many, many years to come. It is well thought out and laid out in a way that makes fast work of the most complex sessions.”
