Sound of Success at the 91st Academy® Awards27th February 2019
Burnley, England – February 2019. This year’s Academy® Award winners were announced on Tuesday night, with Bryan Singer’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ the big winner on the night. The Freddie Mercury biopic scooped a massive four Oscars including Best Sound Mixing – with Paul Massey, Tim Cavagin and John Casali collecting the award. The sound for Bohemian Rhapsody was mixed at Twickenham Studios on the AMS Neve DFC console, and the music was recorded in Abbey Road’s iconic Studio One on their Neve 88RS.
Another celebrated film release of 2018, and recipient of 8 nominations was ‘A Star is Born’. Although losing out to ‘Green Book’ for Best Picture, Lady Gaga won her first Oscar for Best Original Song, ‘Shallow’. The final mix for the song ‘Shallow’ – the feature song for A Star is Born, was done at Electric Lady Studios using a Neve VR console.
Ludwig Goransson took Best Original Score for critically acclaimed ‘Black Panther’ – recorded through Abbey Road’s Neve 88RS.
