Tin goes Gold at the Grammys

11th May 2011

Fans of video games will recognize Christopher Tin’s song Baba Yetu, which features the Soweto Gospel Choir as the theme song to the popular game,Civilization IV.

The recognition took a more highbrow turn at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, where Baba Yetu won Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists – the first time that a piece written for a video game has ever received a Grammy.

In fact, Tin won two Grammys – the other being for Best Classical Crossover Album. Calling All Dawns, a classical/world music fusion album (one of whose tracks is Baba Yetu) was recorded on the Neve 88RS at Abbey Road Studio One.
