Mastering Grade Conversion

The StarNet ADA16 has been designed to produce the ultimate in fidelity and sonic clarity, boasting incredibly low distortion and delivering a flat frequency response that extends far beyond the audible range. The ADA16 offers mastering-grade A/D converters, producing 119dBFS of dynamic range, and pristine quality D/A converters producing 122dBFS of dynamic range with selectable headroom settings of +18, 24 or 26dBu, accommodating any digital standard.

High Resolution Sampling

The StarNet ADA16 boasts AD/DA conversion at up to 192kHz at bit depths of up to 32bit Integer, handling mixing and mastering tasks with ease.

Precision Clocking System

The StarNet ADA16 employs a modern crystal oscillator clocking system and jitter elimination DAC chips, establishing itself as the ideal master clock in any professional studio environment.

Dual Ethernet Redundancy

Dante connections are facilitated through dual Ethernet ports, providing redundancy in case of network failure or the ability to daisy-chain multiple units in switched mode.

Premium Analogue Outputs

Derived from the acclaimed 88R console, the ADA16’s analogue output stage exceeds a 100kHz frequency bandwidth, ensuring faithful translation of true 192kHz digital audio. This stable amplification stage can drive long cable lengths without signal degradation.

User-Friendly Control

A front-mounted OLED screen provides ‘at-a-glance’ access to network settings, sample rate, bit depth, and more. Simple menu navigation buttons and input/output LEDs offer intuitive control for all 16 analogue inputs and outputs.

Multiple Metering Options

All 16 input and output channels feature front-mounted tri-colour LED metering that can be switched on or off. The OLED screen can also be toggled through input and output metering options to show bar graph analogue input or output levels entering or leaving the unit.

Remote-Controlled Muting

Following the success of the remote-controlled 1073OPX, Neve develops remote-control capabilities for the ADA16. The remote muting app allows for remote control of the analogue outputs of all units on the LAN, providing peace of mind and protection against audio spikes when connected to sensitive equipment.  The app also allows for future upgrades, further enhancing the remote control capabilities.

Dante Subscription Display

In addition to the bar graph metering options, the OLED display can be used to interrogate the current Dante subscriptions assigned to the ADA16, allowing for local access to the system, a useful option when installed in large multi-room facilities.

Efficient Heat Management

Crafted with an external PSU design, the StarNet ADA16 efficiently dissipates heat, safeguarding internal components for an extended lifespan. This design consideration underscores Neve’s commitment to delivering robust and reliable audio solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I connect the ADA16 to my analogue gear?

The ADA16 features 4x 25-pin D-Sub connections for analogue input and outputs; the four D-subs can connect to either a patch bay or directly to analogue studio equipment.

How is the ADA16 remotely controlled?

The ADA16 uses an independent communications network that can run on your studio LAN. This connection carries the remote control comms data for the remote muting function, and also provides a connection for firmware updates via the Neve Updater app.

How do I adjust the ADA16's sample rate & bit depth settings?

Sample rate, bit depth, pull-up, pull-down, & clocking options are all handled via the Audinate Dante Controller application. Headroom and metering settings are controlled locally from the OLED menu.

What are the best practices for rack-mounting the ADA16?

Because the ADA16 includes 16 ADC and 16DAC chips, it does generate more heat than many 19″ rack units and includes convection venting holes in the sides and top panels. It is not advised to rack additional units on top of the ADA16. Ideally, avoid vertical mounting, ensure that the side vents aren’t obstructed and leave a 1u gap on top and below the unit will prevent overheating and ensure optimal operation.
